The Mixed Media Shower

May 3rd The Hundred Acre Wood comes to life in a festival that supports and highlights Austin's culture and abundance of creative art and music. Our first scheduled public event is an arts and crafts fair that will lead into a night of camping under a meteor shower! Local artists will show and sell their work during the day. Booths will be filled with unique jewelry, clothes, ceramics, and other fine arts. Food will be provided by local vendors. Festivities will continue into an evening of live music, dancing, and outdoor movies, followed by a late night of laying out in wide open fields to watch the meteors fly. Everyone is invited to pitch a tent, and camp over night. In the morning, join us for breakfast, mimosas, and yoga before heading home. Or feel free to spend the day reconnecting with nature while hiking, biking, flying a kite, playing croquet, disc golf, horse shoes, and washers, or enjoy a geo caching exploration adventure.

Yoga will be lead by Yoga Yoga in morning. We will have two one hour classes of beginner friendly Hatha Yoga. One at 8:30 a.m., and one at 10:00 a.m. Participants will need to bring their own mats. We ask that you arrive 5 minutes before the class begins, because joining in during the middle of class can be disruptive, and missing the warm up can be detrimental.

Austin Cycling Association and Yellow Bike project are collaborating to organize a bike ride out the event, and everyone is welcome to join them. It will be a 20 mile ride. We will arrange a truck to haul the cyclist's gear out to The Hundred Acre Wood. Please register for the ride in advance so we can determine how much we'll be transporting. All Cyclists will be welcomed to The Mixed Media Shower free of charge.

    Call for art
To all the beautifully expressive ladies and gentlemen of the art world:
We would love for you to come share your creative talents! From canvas, to clay, performing arts, music, video, sculpture, screen printing and large installations. Any and all artisans and craft makers are welcome to come share in this celebration of imagination and expression.

You can set up your large installations or any other art that is not for sale, free of charge, and we will allow the time and space required for set up. Set up begins April 26-27th, from 3pm to 7pm. This is the time for all artists to scope out the space, pick a spot, and figure out what they need to make it beautiful. If you require more time, e-mail Rebecca.

The "booth" fee for selling your work is $50 per vendor, which allows for any size set up you would like to bring. It is non-refundable. Although artists can share a space, each individual is required to pay the fee. We encourage pretty, colorful booths. There will be plenty of trees, so if you don't have a pop up, you can create your own by stringing up pretty fabric between the branches. You are responsible for your own lighting needs. We have extended registration and payment to Saturday. If you're coming on last minute, show up around 12:30 or 1:00 on Saturday to get situated. Vendors register here!

Performing art is also welcome. We are interested in acrobats, puppeteers, dancers, and video artists. If you are interested in taking the stage, e-mail Dylan.

Volunteers can e-mail Rebecca. We will take good care of you and make sure your bellies are full of yummy food, and you've got a cold beer when you want one.

Join us on myspace to receive information on future events at The Hundred Acre Wood.

We hope you continue to be inspired and productive. Your work is appreciated and admired!
